My biggest problem with this study is the fact that the "low-carb breakfast" group ate half as many calories for breakfast and twice as many calories for dinner as the "high-protein plus dessert breakfast" group.

The results could be actually be due to the effect of eating the most calories at breakfast and the least at dinner - and nothing to do with eating dessert for breakfast or the low/high carb composition of the meal.

If they specifically wanted to find out the true effect of a "high-protein plus dessert breakfast" they should have had the other group consume a "low carb breakfast" with an equal number of calories.

Massive oversight of the researchers!


The comparison group did not eat dessert.
